The Helena May was declared a heritage building in 1993 and has proudly stood on Garden Road, Central, for over 100 years. Opened in 1916 and built in the Edwardian Classical Revival style with Beaux Arts, Baroque and Mannerist features, this building has long featured in Hong Kong's history and in the stories of the many women, both local and international, who have benefitted from its existence.
The Helena May Council embarked on a programme of renovations and preservation prior to the celebrations for its centenary in 2016 and also to go forward into its next century. Although the interior has changed over time, our main objective of providing an affordable meeting place and residence for women and girls and a charitable focus on helping women and girls in need, has never changed.
Donations towards the preservation and maintenance of The Helena May are always welcome. Please contact our General Manager at email@example.com.
